Location

Estuaries are located where fresh and salt water meet. Most estuaries are located by ocean coast lines. Estuaries may be well known in some countries, but for other countries estuaries are becoming scarce because of pollution. The two we chose are the Mississippi River estuary in Lousiana and the River Thames estuary in London.

Climate

The climates of estuaries are all different because of their locations. Some estuaries have four seasons, Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer. But others have two seasons, a wet season and a dry season. We chose the Mississippi River estuary and the Thames River estuary in London. If you compare the two like we did, you will see that they both have two seasons, a wet season and a dry season. The two are very different at the same time because of their location. For example, the average temperature for the Mississippi River estuary is 25 degrees celsius in the dry season and 18 degrees celsius in the wet season. But for the Thames estuary, the average temperature for the dry season is 19 degrees celsius and the average temperature for the wet season is usually 8 degrees celsius. The average prectipitation for the dry season of the Mississippi River estuary is 7.74 centimeters, and for the wet season the average precipitation is 15.68 centimeters. But for the Thames estuary, the average precipitation for the dry season is 3.7 centimeters, and for the wet season the average prectipitation is 6.7 centimeters.
